For Visitors to Japan

Don’t let a sudden illness get in the way of your time in Japan.
Get smooth care without worrying about the language barrier.

Overview If you fall ill during your trip

Getting sick in an unfamiliar country can make even finding a hospital that speaks your language a real challenge. And after a long wait, you may end up being prescribed medicine you don’t fully understand, still unsure whether your symptoms were correctly conveyed.

To minimize the anxiety and lost time travelers face, UPBEAT offers medical services where you can consult a doctor directly in English.

What We Treat Symptoms we treat while you travel

We provide smooth care for situations like “I’m not sure whether I should go to a hospital” or “I don’t want to spend my precious travel time in a waiting room.”

  • Sudden fever or chills
  • Persistent cough, sore throat, or phlegm
  • Stomachache, nausea, diarrhea, or constipation from unfamiliar food
  • Injuries from falls, scrapes, and cuts (wound care such as stopping bleeding and suturing is also available)
  • Allergic reactions
  • Refills of regular medication you forgot to bring (such as blood pressure medicine)
  • Medical certificates for airlines or travel insurance

How to See a Doctor Two consultation styles to choose from

Depending on your condition and situation,
you can choose between an “Online Consultation” and a “House Call.”

For house calls, prior permission from your hotel or accommodation is required.

Online Consultation
Best for You don’t need to go to a hospital but want advice, your regular medication has run out, or you need a medical certificate
Coverage area Anywhere in Japan (with an internet connection)
What’s included Consultation with a doctor via video call
House Call to Your Hotel, etc.
Best for You’re too unwell to leave your hotel room, or you need a detailed in-person examination or treatment
Coverage area Within Nagoya city, and accommodations within about a 1-hour drive from Nagoya
What’s included In-person examination, vital sign measurement, rapid testing (influenza, COVID-19, etc.), wound care, and on-the-spot prescription
The “house call” that’s completed in your hotel room

With a house call, the doctor comes directly to your accommodation to examine, test, and treat you on the spot. We can also handle wound care such as stopping bleeding and suturing for injuries from falls.

In addition, common medications—such as fever reducers, painkillers, cough medicine, anti-nausea medicine, gut regulators, allergy medicine, compresses, and blood pressure medicine—are provided on the spot after your examination. (Some medications must be picked up at a pharmacy.)

Fees Clear pricing designed for travel insurance

When receiving medical care abroad, the biggest concern is often “how much will it cost in the end?”

Our house calls use a single flat rate that includes transportation, the consultation, testing and treatment, medication, and the issuance of referral letters and medical certificates. (Additional charges may apply for some medications.)

House call: 100,000 JPY (tax included)

Online consultation: 30,000 JPY (tax included)

Payment is made by credit card before the consultation (we do not accept cash on-site). The service is designed with travel insurance claims in mind, and we promptly issue the medical certificates needed for your claim.

Medications provided during a house call may, in rare cases, cause side effects such as rashes or stomach discomfort depending on your constitution or allergies. Please be sure to inform the doctor of any pre-existing conditions, allergies, or medications you are currently taking during your consultation.

How It Works From booking to consultation

  1. Book by phone or Web

Tell us your current symptoms and the address where you are staying.

  2. Confirm the plan

We confirm whether an online consultation or a house call is appropriate, along with the visit location.

  3. Have your consultation

Via video call, or the doctor visits your accommodation.

  4. Treatment, prescription & documents

We provide on-the-spot treatment, hand over medication, and issue insurance certificates.
