When seeking multilingual healthcare in Japan, you often have to choose between a local hospital that just happens to have an English-speaking staff member, or a quick nationwide online service where you see a different doctor every time.
UPBEAT offers a new alternative. Here are three promises we make to our patients:
Dr. Takeshi Sakamoto holds medical licenses in both Japan and the EU, and is a board-certified emergency medicine physician. Rather than simply translating Japanese medical practices into English, we strive to understand the medical expectations of your home country to provide care that makes sense to you.
From fevers, coughs, and stomachaches to a child's sudden rash or just feeling generally unwell—start by telling us your symptoms. We will accurately determine whether we can resolve it online, if an in-person visit is necessary, or if you should be referred to a specialist.
From booking to consultation, everything can be done via your web browser or LINE. There is no need to download a new app. You won't be dealing with automated voice menus—we provide warm, human-to-human medical care.
Trained at the University of Pécs Medical School in Hungary, Dr. Sakamoto has practiced across Japan in emergency and general medicine—including at Tsukuba Memorial Hospital, Urasoe General Hospital, and Fujita Health University.
Use us as a convenient first point of contact for an unexpected illness after work, or for a second opinion in your native language. We are also here for you when you don't want to burden your children with interpreting for you.
If you receive a call from your child's nursery about a fever, you may not need to leave work immediately. At our partner nurseries, with your consent, an online consultation with our physician can be arranged right on the spot, allowing you to get a doctor's assessment first.
We respond to sudden illnesses during your stay. In addition to online consultations in English, we offer house calls to your hotel and can issue medical certificates required for travel insurance claims.
